Synopsis: The legendary videogame Dragon’s Lair was a blockbuster (and quarter guzzling) sensation when it first debuted, spawning sequels, imitators, and a beloved Saturday morning cartoon series. Review: Dragon's Lair was a very popular video game back in the 1980s.  I used to play this on the original Nintendo back in the day and it was a fantastic game.  The cartoon spawned from the game and sported a nearly identical animation.  The show even played out like the game, which was an absolute blast.  Although it was short lived, only 13 episodes in all, it was a really well done and fun show.  This Ruby-Spears classic is available for the first time on DVD through the Warner Archive on wbshop.com only.  This cannot be found in-stores!  This one was overshadowed by other video game cartoons like Captain N and Mario Bros./Zelda, but it was a great show and definately deserves some due attention!

Review: Chrysanthemum is the second Scholastic Storybook DVD release that we're reviewing this week.  As we said in our other review, these are amazing DVD sets that are safe, educational and fun.  The perfect trifecta!  This one has a bunch of diferent stories..in fact 17 to be exact.   They are all read and enacted from fantastic books that are still read in schools.  In fact, more often than not my daughter tells me she has read each book we see..and loves them all already!

Review: The Ghost Hunters were the first group to air their paranormal exploits on television for all to see.   A few other shows followed-suit, like Ghost Adventures, but the format isn't the same.  Ghost Adventures is more about the personalities, while Ghost Hunters really is about the hunt!    TAPS goes into some great historic sites this season..my favorite was definately Alcatraz!  These shows really make even the most skeptical question what they know about life after death!  This blu-ray is the first part of the season, the second is coming in October.

Review: The Tempest is the latest in modern re-imagining and re-tellings of Shakespeare's works.  Based on the play of the same name, this film was directed by the revolutionary director of the film "Titus".   Starring Helen Mirren...well, thats all I needed to know before I picked this one up!  I knew she'd knock it out of the park, and she exceeded even our expectations!  Her performance as Prospera is so well-played it'll blow you away.  The film is a good follow of the play, with some great new attitude and visual effects.  Its definately worth the watch.

Review: Incendies is a VERY heavy drama.  The movie is an emotional rollercoaster, to say the least and is not for the faint of heart.  That being said, its fantastically written and well-acted!   The movie takes a few twists and turns that will surprise and is definately an original feature!  This set comes with both the DVD and Blu-ray.  Be ready for some serious family secrets!

Review: Modern Family is a hilarious newer TV comedy.  Its shot in a similar style to the Office.  This show follows the various facets of a crazy and misguided family as they attempt to interact and get along.  The show features all types of archetypes, but among the most entertaining is the TV return of Ed O'Neill.   His comedic timing is perfect, as always, and its a joy to see him in a series again.  This show is funny and it has a great ensemble cast.  The second season is more of the same great comedy.

Review: This is a musical comedy imported from Australia.  Its a coming of age tale about an aboriginal boy.  The film is pretty crazy at moments, as the boy discovers himself after taking off from a religious mission and hooking up with a scam artist.  This one is charming and fun and certainly interesting.

Review: The hype surrounding Conan's departure from NBC was out of control!  The horribly unfunny Jay Leno is back on the Tonight Show, but in the meantime, Conan was barred from appearing on TV or radio due to his contract, so they filmed this cool documentary of the behind the scenes of his huge Legally Prohibited from Being Funny on Television tour.  The comedy show is pretty funny, but honestly Conan is way funnier in the off-hand moments behind the show.  This one is a great watch for any Conan fan.

Synopsis: Mandy Moore stars as Eva, a newlywed who has it all: a successful career as a top marriage counselor, a hot husband (Kellan Lutz of The Twilight Saga) and the answers to everything. Review: This romantic comedy centers around a girl whose world begins to fall apart around her.  Her parents get divorced due to an old infidelity and she founds out secrets about her on beau.  This causes them to go to relationship boot camp and the hilarity ensues.  This one is an okay watch..the comedy is a bit cliche at times, but it does have its share of laughs.  Its a sweet movie to watch with your loved one.

Review: It's Always Sunny rages on with their sixth and maybe best season yet on blu-ray!  The show is not only funny..its just downright inappropriate and indecent!  The gang get in more trouble, cause major issues...its more of the same from this syndicated comedy giant.  This one is a must-own for any fan of the show.  If you haven't seen this one yet, you're missing out and you NEED to pick up the seasons NOW!  If you enjoy uncomfortable and outrageous humor, this one is for you.

Review: Grounded For Life is a great sit-com that kinda flew under the radar.  It did go on for quite a few seasons, and is getting a great and affordable release by Mill Creek Entertainment!  This show has great dynamics with the long married couple and their kids ranging from teen to youth and the live-in brother in law, who only gets crazier and more entertaining as the show progresses.  This one is a lesser known great laugh and definately worth the price!

Review: Scholastic is famous for bringing us the finest in children's programming.  In fact, these DVDs are a godsend for parents that care everywhere.  These are always safe, educational and fun for all ages.  My kids from ages 2 to 8 love them always.  These four stories all focus on friendship and caring.  They are wildly amusing and well worth the purchase.  These are priced right at just over $10 each on Amazon.

Review:  The X-Men movie franchise changed the face and tone of comic book movies.  The original X-Men in 2000 set the bar very high with great quality acting, script and a serious tone.  After that came X2..another win.  Then...sigh...X-Men 3.  That film was riddled with issues, from multiple directors dropping out to a clearly muddled plot and misuse of characters.  Ok, so that was over..then the Wolverine movie came to mixed reviews.  Personally, I enjoyed it just fine, but it still wasn't up to par with the first two X-Men movies.  Now, we get a prequel..First Class.  

X-Men: First Class is not only a surprise, but an absolute delight!  The characters are fantastic, great actors, great script..great everything.  What an amazing film!  The X-Men are back and yet again setting the bar!   This film is so good that Kevin Bacon is awesome.   The movie, set mostly during the Cuban Missle Crisis, is another serious take on some legendary superheroes and it really does them justice.  This film is a must own.

Review: Dumbo is one of the lesser known Disneys by the public at large.  It doesn't get the fanfare that a lot of the Princess-themed films and the late 1980s to early 1990s features like the Little Mermaid, Aladdin and Beauty & The Beast get.  The film is charming, fun and heartwarming and is certainly up to snuff with the other features in the Disney library.   This is the first time that you can own this classic on blu-ray high-definition.  The film looks amazing, which is saying something for a film that was released back in 1941!  The movie has a few cultural aspects that are a sign of the times, but mostly things that fly under the radar of children.  This film is a great family feature and can now be owned on the best possible format.

Review: The Marvel Knights motion comic DVDs have, thus far, been phenominal.   The Shout! Factory releases of Iron Man, Spider-Woman, X-Men etc. have all been great watches.  Now, they're releasing a great Thor tale.  The quality and entertainment value are right on-par with the previous releases.  They've really managed to make motion comics not only watchable, but highly entertaining.  This one is an absolute win and a great companion to watching the new feature film as it comes on blu-ray and DVD!

Review: Glee, the musical phenom, continues with the complete second season on blu-ray!  This time FOX did the fans right and just went right to the full season release.  The show has really grown and the cool tributes were absolutely insane this year, from Brittney Spears to the now legendary Rocky Horror Picture Show tribute!  This is more of the same from season one..if you dig Glee..if you're a huge Glee-tard, then this is definately for you!

Review: We miss My Name Is Earl.  We watch it in syndication all day like mental patients.  We just love it so much.  When we heard that Greg Garcia had a new comedy show, we freaked!  Raising Hope isn't Earl..but it stands on it's own two feet as a fantastic show.  The first season even features cameos from Earl, Randy, Joy and Crab Man (not as their Earl personas) and the Earl character Kenny is even a main player in the cast!   One of our favorite episodes, the one with Jason Lee (Earl) as Smokey Floyd, includes a great Earl reference for us crazy fans.   Raising Hope is a fantastic consolation prize for fans and is FULL of laughs.  Every character is well written and the show is absolutely a MUST own.

Review: Bridesmaids has a huge amount of hype following it around these days.  Its touted as the best comedy of the year..by some the best comedy ever!  In league with the Hangover.  We didn't see this film in the theaters, so this is our first experience with Bridesmaids, after being tained by the hype machine.  I found the film to be charming and funny.  That said, I think the hype is a bit overblown.  All the actors in the film are fantastic and definately on their game.  The script is there and the life-affirming story is certainly nice in the end.   This is a great date movie..something that everyone can enjoy and get things out of.  The unrated DVD is definately the way to go to squeeze some more inappropriate humor out of the film!

Review: We love Ray Liotta here at the Legion.  His presence in crime drama is prolific.  The River Murders gives us Liotta doing what he does best, except this time he's on the side of the law.  Liotta chases around a serial killer and has to resort to a bit of vigilante justice to get the job done.  This is a rather predictable film, but the ride is great and full of nail biting thrills.

Review: Breaking the Press is the latest in a recent series of Christian-themed films about familiy and sports.  This one centers around a coach and his son that leaves town to play ball in the big city and the ethical challenges he faces.  This is a nice family film for religious folks.  The acting is pretty good, all in all its about the quality of a made for TV movie.
