2012 – The Jim Henson Company and Gaiam Vivendi
Entertainment (GV), a leading distributor of entertainment and lifestyle media,
have announced a new multi-year distribution agreement that will provide GV with
exclusive physical and digital home video distribution rights to a number of
classic Henson family properties in the U.S. as well as digital distribution in
Canada.
To kick off the relationship, Gaiam Vivendi
will issue exclusive new DVDs of “Fraggle Rock” in 2013 as part of the year-long
30th anniversary celebration of this beloved series, featuring
all-new bonus materials, packaging, and more. Additionally, GV will re-release
an array of Henson family titles such as “Emmet Otter’s Jugband Christmas,” “The
Hoobs” and “Animal Show with Stinky and Jake,” along with new productions
including the highly anticipated Fraggle Rock spin-off for preschoolers
“Doozers.” GV will also make available previously unreleased Henson series such
as the BAFTA-winning “Construction Site.”
Gaiam Vivendi will also roll out the iconic
Henson catalog across its broad range of digital partners starting in December
2012, allowing millions of fans to experience all their
favorite Henson titles and discover new properties as well via their platform of
choice.
