Survivors: The Complete Seasons 1 and 2 DVD Review - BBC
Synopsis: Imagine being the only survivor of a mystery virus that kills every member of your family, friends and nearly everyone you've ever met. All traditional 21st-century comforts- electricity, clean running water, advanced technology-have disappeared. You are among the lonely few left to start again in a bleak new world where the once safe and familiar is now strange and dangerous. These are the challenges faced by the bewildered but resilient group of survivors in this gripping adventure.
Review: This show was released initially back in the 1970s on the BBC. This DVD set is for the re-make of the now cult-classic series. Its difficult to pull-off a remake that is as good as the original. In this instance I feel that they managed to hit on something here that is actually better than the original!
The first season starts out with the disease running through England and everyone dying. That takes a few episodes to get through until you see the cast really form. You can see right away that they know they are all that is left of society and they have to form this uneasy sort of family. To watch the adversity that they struggle with we see a lot of the issues we have in real life reflected still even during this harsh time.
This modernization of the classic show is fantastic and long overdue. The acting and film quality are better, along with the overall quality of the show. This DVD set represents the entire series, so its a perfect buy. I highly recommend checking it out.
