Synopsis: A father's worst fears come true in this apocalyptic political thriller, one of the best and most influential British TV series ever made. Investigating his daughter's murder, a Yorkshire police officer follows clues into a murky world of nuclear espionage and cover-ups. Part crime drama, part science fiction, and 100% terrifying.
Review: Does this title and premise sound familiar? That may be because you're seeing trailers on television for an American big-screen adaptation of this concept starring Mel Gibson! We all know that Mel Gibson is insane and rather offensive in his old age, but the movie does sound cool. I have a great alternative to supporting racist actors...watch the original! The BBC put this out as a mini-series awhile back, and its far superior to the recent American film adaptation.
I have to say that I'm worn out on cop drama. I really thought that was what this is, but its not. Its a great political thriller..one of the best. This was produced back in 1985 and was one of the first nuclear-age dramas that explored the conspiracies in the government. Who can you trust? Everything you think you know is a lie and the deeper it goes, the more intense the suspense and action becomes! I don't want to spoil any details of the show, but this was a fantastic watch and I highly recommend it.
