Synopsis: Set in a not-too-distant future where America has lost its "war" on drugs, Fred, an undercover cop, is one of many people hooked on the popular drug, Substance D, which causes its users to develop split personalities. Fred is obsessed with taking down Bob, a notorious drug dealer, but due to his Substance D addiction, he does not know that he is also Bob. Based on a classic novel by Philip K. Dick. Review: A Scanner Darkly is one of those films that had some good build-up, but due to some delays back when it came out, it ended up kinda flying under the radar.  It was before Robert Downey Jr.'s big comeback with Iron Man and I think honestly, people are tired of seeing Keanu  Reeves in sci-fi films at this point.

This film is destined to become a cult classic in the near future.  Its like a sci-fi Fight Club and it has the attitude to match in its own way.  The film was run through a filter that you now see used quite a bit, but was revolutionary at the time.  The entire way of doing this film was experimental, which is one of the most charming parts of the whole thing.  It was destined to be on blu-ray.  The transfer looks fantastic and crisp.  This is definately the way you should enjoy this one.
