Review: I actually never watched Four Weddings and a Funeral back in the day.  Its too bad that I didn't because its a very funny film.  I'm not a huge Andie MacDowell fan, but I do enjoy most all Hugh Grant films...my wife has brainwashed me as such!  This one is very sweet and romantic.  Its from the same writers as Notting Hill, which is also a fantastic film.  Four Weddings and a Funeral is on blu-ray for the first time, and it looks superb.  The transfer into high-definition was very successful.  There is little grain and the colors pop nicely.

Review: Be Cool is the quirky sequel to the quirky film Get Shorty.  This time around we get the always sexy Uma Thurman and everyone from Steven Tyler of Aerosmith to Andre 3000 of Outkast.  This all-star cast is immersed in a bizarre tale that takes several twists and turns!  Its on blu-ray for the first time, which is fantastic.  The transfer looks fantastic.  The film in high-definition is virtually flawless.  Great color, no grain..its a win!

Review: The Cutting Edge is that movie.  The movie that really encompasses the romance film of the 1980s.  The situation is far out and very specific...almost too specific to appeal to anyone in the audience..or so you'd think.  This turned out to be a D.B. Sweeney hit!  My wife has made me watch it more than once, lol.  It really is a well made film and definately trumps a lot of the romantic films of present day.  Its on blu-ray for the first time and it looks fantastic in high-definition.  No visible grain and a pretty decent colors.

Review: Overboard is a guilty pleasure of ours here at the Legion.  This classic never gets old for us..the tale of a widower with three kids that tricks his nasty former employer into thinking she is his wife, after she gets a bad case of amnesia.  Of course, they fall in love during the course of the film and in the end...against all reality and odds, their love prevails.  Its a great film, full of laughs and a great love story.  This one is great for the whole family and now its on blu-ray for the first time.   The transfer into high-definition looks fantastic.

Synopsis: Dare to know Mandrake (Marcos Palmeira), an exciting detective series that follows the life of Paulo Mandrake, the alluring and attractive criminal lawyer from Rio de Janeiro.  Specializing in resolving cases of blackmail and extortion, Mandrake is the primary liaison between the lower class of Rio de Janeiro and high society. When Mandrake is not in a bar to seduce a woman, or around the city chasing an enemy, we can find him in the law firm with Wexler (Luis Carlos Miele), a cynic philosopher, and lawyer of 70 years, whom Mandrake regards as a father figure. Part James Bond and part Rat Pack.

Review: Mandrake is a great detective show from Brazil.  The show is like James Bond meets Oceans 11.  Its full of fantastic writing, great mystery and tons of wit.   Mandrake is not only likeable, but is tough and full of personality.  This is a great show and to get seasons one and two all at once was definately a treat.  A very fun watch, beware you will have to be ok with subtitles.

Synopsis: In Epitafios, Renzo Marquez (Julio Chavez) and Marina Segal (Cecilia Roth) join forces again to solve yet another logic-defying homicide case.  With the help of XL (Alejandro Awada), a psychiatric patient suffering from low brain activity, they manage to anticipate a serial killer’s next move.  This time, the murderer is a tormented man who views killing as an art form and, as such, thinks each homicide deserves to be immortalized in a series of photographs.  Homicide detectives embark on a race against time to catch him, even as Renzo and Marina are burdened by the ghosts of their own pasts. A sadistic crime drama from the detectives’ point of view.

Review: Epitafios is a complex show.  It was featured on HBO Latin.  This Argentinian show has now released it's season two to DVD and we had to check it out.  I had the privilege of watching season one and I'm always for great crime drama.  We're talking political intrigue, serial murder and flat-out brutality.  Season two didn't disappoint.  It was full of great character development and intense drama.  We highly recommend.

Review: These new import films from Disney World Cinema are SO cool.  Its great to see how different filmmaking is in other countries and I don't often get a chance to see that, with the exception of the UK, Japan and China.  Once Upon A Warrior, known in India as Anaganaga O Dheerudu, is a fantasy-adventure film that involves all types of sorcery, magic and adventure.  Its a really convoluted plot with a lot of great characters and over the top fantasy.  Its really fun and a nice change-up from what I'm used to seeing.

Review: I'm a fan of B.B. King..not a crazy one, but I enjoy his music.  It is fantastic to watch him perform live and hear some of his greatest hits.  The concert, present in high-definition blu-ray, is absolutely enjoyable and King comes off like a rose with his gleaming personality.

Review: We love documentaries here at the Legion.  In fact, we can't get enough of them....even this one.  I won't lie, I have a low tolerance for ventriloquism, but this look inside the lives of five professional ventriloquists was fantastic.  It was great to get an inside look at their world and their struggles as performers!

Synopsis: Set in 1977 in a provincial town, Potiche is a witty and charming comedy starring Catherine Deneuve as Suzanne Pujol, a housebound 'trophy wife' (or potiche) who steps in to manage an umbrella factory run by her tyranical husband after the workers go on strike. To everyone's surprise, Suzanne proves herself a competent and assertive woman of action. Gerard Depardieu plays a union leader and Suzanne's ex-beau who still holds a flame for her. With Potiche acclaimed writer-director Francois Ozon (Swimming Pool, 8 Woman) has created a satrical and hilarious take on the war between the sexes and classes.

Review: Potiche is a silly movie package with a more serious underlying message.  The film really puts forth a funny face and gives some good laughs on the battle between the sexes, but in the end it really puts your thinking to the test.  I was surprised at the depth of the film, which I expected to stay completely light-hearted.  This one was a great surprise and definately one to watch.

Review: We're big fans of the UK version of Top Gear here at the Legion, so we were excited to see the US counterpart when it premiered on the History Channel.  The first season went pretty well.  The guys aren't quite as likable as the UK versions and the jokes aren't quite as risque, but the action was there.  The cars featured are, obviously, American models and the stunts are pretty much on par with the quality of the UK series.  This is a necessary edition to the Top Gear family and we welcome it with open arms!

Review: The Smurfs is a classic early 1980s cartoon.  In fact, it wasn't just a cartoon, it was a pop culture phenomenon!  Everyone knows the Smurfs, and with a feature film coming this summer everyone will know them again!  This DVD release features 10 episodes from season two of the classic show.  The second season aired back in 1982 and these episodes are a great example of the feel of this classic show.  The innocence mixed with great characters and fun is something that is hard to find for your kids these days, so it was refreshing to expose my three children to it.....and they all loved it from ages 2 to 8!

Review: Medical Center was the original medical drama...and a drama it was.  This DVD release represents the complete first season of the show, a 6-disc, 26 episode set!  The show is a great rivalry between the young new doctors and the seasoned veterans.  There was also a nice focus on the personal lives of the doctors, as well.  The show, while somewhat dated, still holds up quite well, as you can see in the video clip below.  This one is a great look back and fantastic for any retro TV collection.  You can't get this one in-stores...its only available at the WB Shop!

Review: Disney World Cinema has imported Zokkomon, a great Bollywood film, which basically focuses on a kid that escapes his troubled past by becoming a superhero.  This is one of the first Superhero films for Indian kids and its a fantastic one at that!  This is a great film for anyone into superheros and comics or just heartwarming tales about overcoming adversity and coming of age!

Review: Doctor Who is a legendary sci-fi series.  The re-birth in recent years has made it even more popular with a ton of related merchandise.   I won't spoil anything for Who fans that may be waiting to watch the DVD, but look for shocks and surprises!  Plot twists like you wouldn't believe..even in the first episode of the season!

Review: Limitless is the first big-budget leading man role for Hangover alum Bradley Cooper.  He gets to star side by side with the great Robert DeNiro.  Limitless is a great drama about a man who takes a pill to elevate his natural abilities and gets tangled up in the consequences.  Its fast-paced once it gets moving.  The plot is great and the acting is top notch (no surprises there!).  This is a great film with a wide level of appeal.  Cooper has really proven that he has the acting chops to hold a film.

Review: Megadeth was bad ass in their day.  Dave Mustaine was the ultimate metal front man!  This concert, recorded back in 2005, features a great line-up of the band and a fantastic setlist..including their infamous Symphony of Destruction!  This is a must-have for any fan of the band.  The extras are thin, but the concert is well worth the low cost.

Review: Tekken instantly gets respect from me, being a film based on a video game.  I suffered through the Mortal Kombat films and Street Fighter, so whats another martial arts tournament flick under my belt?  No sweat!  I enjoyed the Tekken games, especially Tekken 3.  In fact, my sweet Tekken 3 arcade skills are something I used to bond with my future wife of 13 years over!  I impressed her with my mad skills....or so I thought! lol.  But I digress...this film is actually really well made, which surprised me, I'll be honest.  It was a simple plot, but well produced and rather entertaining.  It would definately recommend.

Review: Take Me Home Tonight is one of the first leading man roles for Topher Grace since he left 'That 70s Show' years ago.  He has appeared here and there, but overall he's been under the radar.  This film is a hark back to a more innocent time when movies were just absolutely fun and insane.  It reminds me of some of the films from the 1980s and for that, we love Take Me Home Tonight.  The plot is cliche, the ending is predictable, but its a great ride.

Review: I wasn't sure what to expect from a Disney World Cinema film.  This hindi film has all the elements I'd expect from an American Disney film, with a different type of charm.  Its all about a family who begins very divided and comes together over the course of the film.  Its a little dramatic, quite funny and definately has a unique flavor.   Its great for the entire family.

Review: Everyone loves Tom and Jerry.  I grew up watching the reruns as a kid and I still can't get enough of them.  I enjoy watching these with my own three kids and they get such a kick out of them.  We've collected several of the various release DVDs and this new one is another home-run!
