Synopsis: Cult director Takashi Miike (Ichi the Killer, Audition) delivers a bravado period action film set at the end of Japan's feudal era. 13 Assassins - a masterful exercise in cinematic butchery (New York Post) is centered around a group of elite samurai who are secretly enlisted to bring down a sadistic lord in order to prevent him from ascending to the throne and plunging the country into a war torn future.

Review: The Martial Arts epic 13 Assassins is a film about the struggle of power in feudal Japan and the responsibility of a few to make hard decisions for the many.  We get a taste immediately for how sadistic the mad lord is, as he decapitates a young woman without mercy.  The film is high on dialogue and script, lower on action, but there is still enough to keep any fan of japanese film happy.
