Never Let Me Go Blu-Ray Review
Synopsis: Academy Award® Nominees Carey Mulligan and Keira Knightley, co-star with talented newcomer Andrew Garfield (The Social Network) in this poignant and powerful film. Kathy (Mulligan), Ruth (Knightley) and Tommy (Garfield) are best friends who grow up together at an English boarding school with a chilling secret. When they learn the shocking truth--that they are genetically engineered clones raised to be organ donors--they embrace their fleeting chance to live and love. Based on the acclaimed novel by Kazuo Ishiguro (The Remains of the Day), Never Let Me Go is an intriguing exploration of hope and humanity.
Review: Never Let Me Go is not at all what I expected it to be. I figured it was some kind of cheesy romantic film. While the movie is about love, it carries a lot more depth than that. This is a film adaptation of the fictional dystopian novel by Kazuo Ishiguro. The film is a pretty straight adaptation of the 2005 work.
The story opens with three kids in boarding school. We learn over time and after some romantic drama between the three that these students are all clones. The world has started raising clones as donors, in case they are needed. With only two of them left, they take their love and try to get a reprieve from donation, because they want to live. They encounter prejudice and and uncaring world. This film is about eternal love at its finest. Its a beautiful picture and definately one to enjoy.
