Doctor Zhivago Blu-Ray Book Review
Synopsis: Lara inspires lechery in Komarovsky (her mother's lover who is a master at surviving whoever runs Russia) and can't compete with passion for the revolution of the man she marries, Pasha. Her true love is Zhivago who also loves his wife. Lara is the one who inspires poetry. The story is narrated by Zhivago's half brother Yevgraf, who has made his career in the Soviet Army. At the beginning of the film he is about to meet a young woman he believes may be the long lost daughter of Lara and Zhivago.
Review: This now legendary film is a five time Oscar winner. Thats no small potatoes. Based on the epic novel by Boris Pasternak, David Lean has created a film that not only crams the novel, but actually manages to do it justice.
The setting is an icey Russia during World War 1 and the Russian Revolution. Its a very important point in history and this poet-doctor, masterfully played by Omar Sharif, is in love with two women. The film is essentially a soap opera with a historic backdrop.
The blu-ray book release of the film is fantastic. The accompanying book gives some great information about the film and the high-definition blu-ray is amazing. The picture is very clear and really pops in some of the scenes with the ice-shroud cabin. This film is a classic and deserves to be in your collection.
