Review: On the surface the Mentalist is yet another crime procedure show in a sea of similar series.  However, when you dig deeper and you get into this series you see that its multi-faceted, complex and engaging.  The development of the main character, Patrick Jane, has really come along and I find myself very invested In his story.  This is a series that is completely worth owning.  The more you watch and re-watch the shows the more you catch in the way of nuances and hidden meanings and you see that there is so much going on in this series, which is part of what makes It so enjoyable.

Audrey Hepburn Collection Blu-Ray Review

Synopsis: "Sabrina" (1954): Sabrina is charming, humorous and aglow with some of Hollywood's greatest stars. Humphrey Bogart, William Holden and Audrey Hepburn star in a Cinderella story directed by renowned filmmaker Billy Wilder (Sunset Boulevard, Some Like It Hot). Bogie and Holden are the mega-rich Larrabee brothers of Long Island. Bogie's all work, Holden's all playboy. But when Sabrina, daughter of the family's chauffeur, returns from Paris all grown up and glamorous, the stage is set for some family fireworks as the brothers fall under the spell of Hepburn's delightful charms. "Roman Holiday"(1953): Roman Holiday was nominated for ten Academy Awards, and Audrey Hepburn captured an Oscar for her portrayal of a modern-day princess rebelling against her royal obligations who explores Rome on her own. She meets Gregory Peck, an American newspaperman who, seeking an exclusive story, pretends ignorance of her true identity. But his plan falters as they fall in love. Eddie Albert contributes to the fun as Peck's carefree cameraman pal. Stylishly directed by William Wyler, this romantic comedy ranks as one of the most enjoyable films of all times. "Breakfast At Tiffany's"(1961): From the opening strains of Henry Mancini and Johnny Mercer's haunting Oscar-winning song "Moon River," you'll once again be under the alluring spell of that madcap, carefree New York playgirl known as Holly Golighty (Audrey Hepburn) in this 24-carat romantic comedy based on Truman Capote's best-selling novella. George Peppard is the struggling and "sponsored" young writer who finds himself swept into Holly's dizzying, delightfully unstructured lifestyle as she determinedly scours Manhattan for a suitable millionaire to marry. The sparkling special features on this Anniversary Edition DVD only add to the luster of director Black Edwards' timeless film classic. Patricia Neal, Buddy Ebsen, Martin Balsam and Mickey Rooney co-star: Mancini won an additional Academy Award for his enthralling musical score.

Review: There are only a few stars from years gone by that stay fresh in our minds and the charming Audrey Hepburn is definitely one of them.  This great new Blu-ray collection gives us three of her best films, Sabrina, Roman Holiday and Breakfast at Tiffany's!  These classics look amazing in high-definition...this is the first time that I've seen them that way.  We even get the option of watching each of them in black and white or color!  I really appreciated that feature.  This is a must have and a fun family friendly watch.

Reign: Season 1 DVD Review

Synopsis: Ever since Mary Stuart, Queen of Scotland, was a little girl, the English have wanted her country and her crown. As a teenager, Mary is sent to France to wed its next king to save herself and her people. Waiting at the French Court is the gorgeous Prince Francis, his illegitimate half-brother Sebastian, a king on the brink of madness, a scheming queen, and the seer Nostradamus with a devastating prophecy. While royal conspiracies, sexual intrigue and mysterious dark forces lurk around every castle corner, Mary struggles to rule her heart's conflicting passions and make the right decisions as she prepares to become queen. Politics, passion and duty make for thrilling drama in all 22 royally scandalous episodes of the powerful new series, "Reign".

Review:  The CW rarely has a show that I feel is worth watching.  Amongst that shortlist is the new period drama Reign.  This show, while not necessarily historically accurate, is wildly entertaining.   One nice thing about this series being on network instead of cable is that we get a whopping 22 episodes in this first season.  The show focuses around  Mary Queen of Scots and the drama surrounding her young life.  Though the show takes place many centuries ago, there are still themes and situations that ring true today.   It has the quality of the Tudors with perhaps a little more accessibility.  The themes of love, betrayl, politics all find their way inside of this series.  I really enjoyed watching this new series and I look forward to season 2.  Get caught up with this great new DVD.

Special features: "'Reign': The Making of a Queen" - In this featurette, we'll talk with executive producers Laurie McCarthy and Brad Silberling and the cast to uncover the story of how the show came to be, why it was such an exciting story to tell, and how its makers re-shaped history to thrill a modern audience; "The Authenticity of 'Reign': Recreating the 16th Century" - From costumes to castles, an inside look at the design and style of "Reign"; Deleted Scenes.

Arrow Season 2 Blu-Ray Review

Synopsis: Starling City has been torn apart by the Undertaking, so the need for the hooded vigilante - now known as "The Arrow" - is more urgent than ever in the explosive second season of the hit action series based on DC Comics' "Green Arrow". After retreating to the island on which he was once stranded, Oliver Queen returns to protect his mother, sister and besieged company, but comes to realize that allies and enemies have switched sides, and the stranglehold of evil on family, friends and city is diabolically linked to his fateful shipwreck. A once-tight comrade-at-arms and a strength-enhancing, yet mind-warping serum may prove to be the mightiest adversaries "The Arrow" has ever encountered. Can justice find its target in this breathlessly exciting, 23-episode Season Two? Or will all fall before the fury of Deathstroke.

Review:  Arrow began strong with the first season, but this second season was really the test of whether or not the show could pull together and move past the initial concept with the huge finale.  Not only did Arrow move forward, but it improved upon itself!  This is the first superhero show that I would recommend to anyone..these guys do it right!   This is one of my favorite shows and the second season amps it up with the impending confrontation with Slade and tons of twists turns and reveals.  Each and every episode is worth watching and builds the ongoing narrative to the epic finale that has us begging for season three!

Special features: Three New Featurettes: "From Vigilante to 'Green Arrow'" - Documentary highlighting Oliver Queen's journey from fighting injustices to becoming Sterling City's accepted savior; "How Did They Do That?! Action & FX" - Explores how Season 2 has raised the bar for action and FX; showing how the creators can make anything the writers dream up come to life; "Wirework: The Impossible Moves of Arrow" - See how the intense and elaborate fight sequences are shot for maximum realism; Episode Commentary; Deleted Scenes; Gag Reel.

The Originals: Season 1 Blu-Ray Review

Synopsis: This sexy and thrilling new series from "The Vampire Diaries'" executive producer centers on the Original vampire family and the dangerous vampire/werewolf hybrid, Klaus (Joseph Morgan), who returns to the magical melting pot that is the French Quarter of New Orleans - a town he helped build centuries ago. Acting on a mysterious tip that a plot is brewing against him, Klaus' questions lead him to his diabolical former protege, Marcel (Charles Michael Davis), a charismatic vampire with total control over the human and supernatural inhabitants of the city.

Review:  The Originals is a spinoff of the hit CW show the Vampire Diaries.  I don't really care that much for the Vampire Diaries, but I enjoy a good vampire film/show, so I gave this one a try and I was very impressed with how much more in depth the narrative was and how much more seriously the subject matter was taken.  I found this one to be very enjoyable and certainly worth checking out.
