Synopsis: Sick of living in a home shrouded with secrets, lies and a smothering sense of competition, Gus (Zach Gilford, Friday Night Lights) runs away from home and the shadow of his famous fly-fishing father (William Hurt). Review: The River Why is really a pretty decent coming of age drama.  It plays pretty close to the original source material.  I must say that the book was a bit more enjoyable, but thats usually the case with adaptations.  Gilford does a great job as the doey-eyed young boy that is looking for his place in the world.  This film touches me in the same way that 'Into the Wild' did.  The film has elements of adventure, raw emotion and romance.  Its really one that is great to watch with your sweetheart.  This one gets a thumbs up from us.
