Review: We just got done reviewing the Year 1 set of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone.  Now, we're delving into the Chamber of Secrets.  You're going to hear a lot of the same things, because its pretty much an identical set.

With this box set we get two new trading cards, Snape and Hagrid.  They're again very sturdy and high quality.  The book delves into the characters of Harry Potter.  These books are more coffee table style, in that they're full of pictures, rather than much for text content.   We again get a digital copy of the film packed into the envelope with the cards.

Harry Potter is a fantastic fantasy franchise with a lot of staying power.  Long after these films are done you'll want to cherish them in your collection.  These ultimate editions are the way to do it.  Years 1 and 2 are now on sale on DVD.  I highly recommend picking these up for yourself or perhaps as a Xmas gift!

Justice League: The Complete Series DVD Review!

Justice League: The Complete Series DVD Review!

You can purchase this DVD set online today

Synopsis: In this action-packed adventure series, the world’s greatest superheroes, including Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, The Flash, Hawkgirl and Martian Manhunter, join forces as the Justice League to battle powerful villains, supernatural creatures and evil entities determined to take over the world and destroy the League.

Review: A lot of the hardcore Dc Animation fans already own the Justice League: Complete Animated Series on DVD. It was released in two volumes years ago, two for Justice League and two for Justice League Unlimited. So, why go out of your way to purchase this edition?

I want to clarify right away that this set does in fact include the complete episodes for both Justice League AND Justice League Unlimited! The title of the set is somewhat misleading. This is an absolutely dexlue set. When I frist saw the solicitation for this set, I figured it’d be junk. I thought we’d get a cardboard slipcase and a complete re-issue of what was already out there. Boy, was I wrong…and I’m pleasantly surprised. This bad boy arrives at the Legions of Gotham / DVD Legion offices with a nice, sturdy metal case. Its like an open-ended steelbook! Shiny and full of life. This set could not look better on the shelf. It houses two oversized DVD cases that each features an insert, new cover art and the DVDs. The discs are the exact discs released in the earlier sets, down to the art. They were literally taken from the previous packaging. There is an addition to this set, other than the attractive packaging, that makes it interesting. There is a bonus disc! Curses! The bonus disc features a nice Justice League documentary and some trailers.

I normally am not into re-packaging efforts from studios…especially to those that already own the previous releases, but I’m telling you as a serious bat-fan that this is an instance where you will want to scrap your old copies and purchase this collector’s edition for the long-term. If you don’t own this series yet, now is your chance to get it, and I don’t think you’ll get a more deluxe release than this anytime soon.

Gone With the Wind 70th Anniversary Ultimate Collector's Edition DVD Review

Gone With the Wind 70th Anniversary Ultimate Collector's Edition DVD Review

You can buy this DVD online today

Synopsis: Winner of 10 Academy Awards® including Best Picture, and still history's all time domestic box-office champion ($1.5 billion), Gone with the Wind has long been considered the most celebrated motion picture of all time. On November 17, Warner Home Video (WHV) will honor the romantic epic with a stunningly restored and remastered version, available for the first time on Blu-ray. Gone with the Wind 70th Anniversary Ultimate Collectors Edition is sure to be a must-have for collectors of classic films, available both in Blu-ray as well as on DVD.

Review: The film genre just wouldn't be the same without Gone with the Wind. I didn't get to see the film until I was 17 years old, but when I did, I was instantly enammored by the epic nature of the piece. I was already really into vintage film from a young age. My favorite movie was Holiday Inn with Bing Crosby and Fred Astaire. Its not wonder that this twisted love story with Scarlett and Rhet became an instant hit with me.

Ever since I saw the film I've yearned to see a really great quality edition of the film. I purchased a VHS box set back in the day and I picked up the DVD release when it first came out many, many years ago, but I was excited for this new 70th Anniversary edition. It has an all new remastering that I was interested in checking-out. Let me tell you, it doesn't disappoint. The colors really pop in this edition and the backrounds are quite clear. I also noticed a nice improvement in the sound. They had already remastered the film years back, but they rescanned the entire thing with new techology in a higher resolution for this release.

The DVD set is limited in the way of special features. It has an audio commentary by historian Rudy Behlmer that is very interesting and full of great info.

This film remains one of the most romantic epics ever produced. If you've seen the film, you likely enjoy it and this release is the way to go. If you've never seen it, please treat yourself to the original 'Titanic'. This is the greatest and most tragic love story of all time.
