Review: The best way to describe this film is as an unconventional comedy.  I went into it thinking that it may be looking for a few cheap laughs and honestly by the trailers that I saw when it was in theaters it looked as though it was trying too hard.  Another example of bad marketing.  The film is, in fact, not trying too hard, but flows right into it's own little groove of intrigue, delusion and oddity.

The film begins in 1992, though for some reason they play a lot of 70s music and have retro-esque transitions in-between some scenes.  I can write that off to a quirk of director Steven Soderbergh's (Oceans 11-13).  The main character basically goes through the ordeal of becoming an FBI informant and turning on his bosses.  The entire film we hear his quirky inner-dialogue and realize that even when he seems deeply invested in a moment, his mind is racing elsewhere.

Matt Damon turns in a unique and inspired performance that contrats his Jason Bourne character so completely that it really serves as a fantastic resume for his acting range.  The Informant was surprising to us in a very good way.  The twists and turns and ultimate understanding of the mind of this character is a ride that isn't to be missed!
