Defendor DVD Review

Defendor DVD Review

Synopsis: Arthur Poppington (2009 Golden Globe® Nominee Woody Harrelson) doesn’t need superpowers or fancy toys to fight crime. Armed only with a childlike sense of wonder and his quirky arsenal of cheap, homemade gadgets, he becomes DEFENDOR! He finds an unexpected partner when he rescues and falls for a local prostitute (Kat Dennings, Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist). Can the two of them take down the city’s most fearsome crime boss without getting killed in the process?

Review: I went into Defendor not sure what to expect.  I kinda thought it might be a rip off of 'Kick Ass', but I am pleasantly surprised to say that I was wrong.  Defendor is the tale of a slightly 'special', but good-hearted man that is trying to avenge his dead mother through an apparently mis-guided, but justified quest.  He enlists the help of a young prostitute that at first takes advantage of him, but learns to love him.

Defendor is full of dark comedy, action and drama.  Its not a silly film and it takes itself very seriously.  Its a great movie with fantastic actors and a very realistic ending.  I found myself greatly enjoying the film and recommending it to others.  Any comic book fan will be highly amused and fans of oddball and dark comedy will stand-up and take notice.

Interest Range: Action, Comic Books, Heroes, Comedy, Dark Comedy
