Marvel Anime: X-Men - Complete Series DVD Review

Synopsis: The X-Men reunite after the death of a teammate in order to track down Hisako Ichiki (Armor), a missing teenage girl in Northern Japan. There, the X-Men encounter the fanatical anti-mutant group, the U-Men, and discover what was important enough for Xavier to bring them back together. The answer is something that could potentially bridge the gap between mutants and humans, or tear the two species apart forever.

Review: We love the X-Men here at the Legion.  In fact, I grew up during the heyday of the X-Men during the late 1980s and early 1990s.  I used to read the comics heavily and have watched all three televised cartoons religiously.   This new DVD is a collection of the first season of an anime that airs on the G4 network.  I wasn't quite sure how the characters would translate and whether I'd dig this, but I really do.  One nice bonus was Steve Blum voicing Wolverine.  Blum also voiced Wolverine in "Wolverine and the X-Men", the most recent X-Men cartoon series.  The sequences and animation are very classic anime and the storyline is fantastic, emotional and has some depth.  This one is a must-own for any comic book fan.

Interest Range: Anime, Marvel Comics
