Murdoch Mysteries Season 4 Blu-Ray Review

Synopsis: Forensic sleuthing in the age of invention.  As seen on public television and based on novels by Maureen Jennings.

William Murdoch (Yannick Bisson, Sue Thomas: F.B.Eye) of the Toronto police department pushes the boundaries of Victorian-era criminal science to solve baffling murders in this smart, compelling series. Season 4 pits the kindhearted cop against a would-be vampire, a costumed killer, and ruthless mobsters, inspiring him to whip up a slew of innovative crime-fighting techniques along the way. But while Murdoch nabs the culprits with the help of politically ambitious inspector Thomas Brackenreid (Thomas Craig, Where the Heart Is) and eager constable George Crabtree (Jonny Harris, Hatching, Matching & Dispatching), he struggles to subdue his feelings for former sweetheart Dr. Julia Ogden (Gemini winner Hélène Joy, Durham County). Nominated for 25 Gemini Awards, Murdoch Mysteries is a good-humored twist on crime procedurals. Guest stars include Victor Garber (Alias, Titanic), Simon Williams (Upstairs, Downstairs), Peter Keleghan (The Red Green Show), and Canadian prime minister Stephen Harper in a cameo.

Review: British TV is a fantastic escape for us here at the Legion, because our shows in America end for the year and we're left with huge gaps.  DVD and Blu-ray releases like this from across the pond help us to keep up with some fantastic programming that we don't normally get.  This blu-ray set includes 13 episodes of this fantastic crime-comedy.   This show has some great mysteries, but a great amount of comic relief, much like the American series Monk.  Season 4 is one of the best yet.  Fans of this show will love it.  If you aren't familiar with this one its ok, you can jump right into this one without being lost, though we do recommend you go back and experience the entire series!

Interest Range: Drama, Mystery, TV Shows
