The Sessions Blu-Ray Review

Synopsis: Paralyzed and confined to an iron lung since childhood, poet-journalist Mark O'Brien (Hawkes) has overcome adversity time and time again. But now, at age 38, he faces his toughest challenge yet: losing his virginity. With the help of a beautiful therapist (Hunt), a sympathetic priest (Macy), and his own unbridled sense of optimism and humor, Mark embarks on an extraordinary personal journey to discover the wondrous pleasures that make life worth living.

Review: The sessions immediately got my attention thanks to cast member Helen Hunt.  I've enjoyed Hunt's work over the years and its honestly few and far between these days.  This movie has a premise that could easily be interpreted as provocative, but it was handled so tastefully and with such real world dignity.   The base of the film is a man's very justified journey to lose his virginity at age 38.   I was quite surprised and pleased with this film and definately recommend it!

Interest Range: Drama
