Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Blu-Ray + DVD Combo Review

Synopsis: Based on the children’s book Chitty Chitty Bang Bang: The Magical Car by Ian Fleming, the film tells the story of an eccentric professor (played by Dick Van Dyke) who invents wacky machinery, but can't seem to make ends meet. When he invents a revolutionary car, a foreign government becomes interested in it, and resorts to skullduggery to get their hands on it. The all-time family classic evolves from there and viewers are taken on a magical ride with the professor and loveable motorcar.

Review: Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is one of the coolest kids fantasy movies that came out back in the 1960s-70skids fantasy movies that came out back in the 1960s-70s era.  It’s a little known fact that while the film was loosely based on a book by Iam Flemming (creator of James Bond) that the script was actually penned by writing great Roald Dahl.  Crazy, right?  This film is absolutely astounding.  It stars Dick Van Dyke, which right away gives you that quality 60s fantasy flair and it only goes on to twisted and fun levels.  The film includes the iconic child catcher that was spoofed by Marilyn Manson in his mass-market debut ‘Smells Like Children’ CD and ‘Dope Hat’ video.  The film touched a generation and now its available in blu-ray high-definition for another.  How does it hold up?

A lot of films suffer from transfer into high-def, especially older ones, but Chitty Chitty Bang Bang looks absolutely amazing.  The film couldn’t be crisper and more full of vibrant color!  So, you can take your kids on a trip to Vulgaria in style and re-live your own childhood with this classic film.  It also includes a DVD copy for the kids to abscond with, so that blu-ray can stay nice for the family.  We highly recommend this one.

Interest Range: Classic Kids Movies, Fantasy
