Vietnam in HD, Blu-ray Edition Review

Synopsis: Their story is in danger of being lost to history. The men who came home from the Vietnam War represent a second silent generation. These are the men who won every battle in a lost war. Using the same experiential approach to storytelling as WWII in HD, HISTORY gives these veterans a voice. Through a collection of color Vietnam footage never seen by the public from private collections, museums, the US government, veteran's and news organizations as well as sources from Vietnam, they tell their stories and relive their struggles, courage and fears. This six-hour miniseries spans the massive initial troop build-up in 1965 to the fall of Saigon a decade later. Sound design, using popular music from that era, powerfully evokes the time period and experience.

This 2-disc set presents all 6 episodes in stunning Blu-ray high-definition.

Review: The History Channel is the absolute best quality resource for war documentaries.  They just released the special collectors edition of WWII in HD and it was absolutely amazing.  Now, we're getting the home video release of Vietnam in HD.  If you thought WWII was intense, Vietnam was all the more tragic and dismal.  This series is another absolute homerun.

This blu-ray release is the high-definition look at Vietnam that you always and never wanted.  The realities of war shine brightly in the cold light of day.  The film overlays very nicely done dramatic voiceovers with real footage from the battles.  We get the tales of 13 men and women involved.   The depth of this six-part documentary truly does justice to the soldiers involved in this terrible war.  I've never seen a special that has come close to the level of realism and emotion that you get from this one.

This would make an amazing Xmas gift for someone!

Interest Range: Documentary, War
