Review: The X-Men animated series from the 1990s aired on the Fox network. It began when I was in middle school and ended its run when I was in high school. This DVD, volume 5, represents the final episodes of the series.
I loved this show. I really, really did. I watched it from day one and although I didn't end up sticking with it until the end, mostly due to aging, it goes down as one of the best shows of the 90s. The animation and acting still hold up well, although it is a bit stylized and dated, its still so fun to watch. I had never seen these final episodes, so it was fun to watch and get caught up.
My only gripe with this series is honestly the Nightcrawler character. There are entire episodes based around him preaching God to all the characters and that just comes off odd in a cartoon about mutants and superheroes. It doesn't have place in a kids cartoon and would've been better left out. Other than that, this is an iconic X-Men cartoon.
The DVD is a great release, very simple with tons of episodes. You can round-out your collection with this final installment of the classic 90s Fox series. I highly recommend.
