Green Lantern: Emerald Knights (Blu-ray/DVD Combo + Digital Copy) Review

Synopsis: Green Lantern: Emerald Knightsweaves six legendary stories of the Green Lantern Corps’ rich mythology around preparations for an attack by an ancient enemy. As the battle approaches, Hal Jordan mentors new recruit Arisia in the history of the Green Lantern Corps, telling tales of Avra (the first Green Lantern) and several of Hal’s comrades – including Abin Sur, Kilowog, Laira and Mogo. In the end, Arisia must rise to the occasion to help Hal, Sinestro and the entire Green Lantern Corps save the universe from the destructive forces of Krona.

Review: Green Lantern is all the rage this year.  He has a feature film coming out, along with this new animated feature and an ongoing Cartoon Network series in fall!  Dc Universe has produced a previous Green Lantern feature, "First Flight", which got mixed reviews at best, though we did enjoy it.  This new feature shares the same animation models, but should not be confused by fans as a sequel.  It is in no way related to the other feature, this one is a stand-alone.

Emerald Knights is essentially a history of important Green Lanterns, as told to a new recruit by veteran Lantern Hal Jordan, masterfully voiced by "Castle's" Nathan Fillion.  We get to explore some key characters and find out what makes them tick, along with a little preview into their futures.  This is a great warm-up for the new film and to really familiarize yourself with these characters if you're like us and your Lantern knowlege was limited.  Overall a great feature, looks amazing and the stories are fun.

Interest Range: Dc Comics, Green Lantern, Animation, Dc Universe
