Ghosts of the Abyss 3D (Three-Disc Combo: Blu-ray 3D/Blu-ray/DVD) Review
Synopsis: Walt Disney Pictures and James Cameron, the Academy Award(R)-winning director of TITANIC (1997), present the groundbreaking cinematic achievement GHOSTS OF THE ABYSS. Joined by his personal friend Bill Paxton (TITANIC) and a team of the world's foremost historical and marine experts, Cameron journeys back to the site of his greatest inspiration -- the legendary wreck of the TITANIC. During the voyage, you will explore inside the entire ship, deck by deck, room by room, encountering mysteries that have remained hidden for almost a century. Revolutionary underwater robots were designed and built solely for the purpose of allowing the explorers to peer deep into the remains of the once-great ship and bring those surreal and haunting images back to the surface world. Loaded with unseen footage, revealing interviews, and innovative DVD bonuses, this unprecedented motion picture event is a must-own companion for anyone who loves TITANIC.
Review: This breathtaking feature, filmed for IMAX theaters, is now available to own in your home! If you're half the Titanic junkie that I am, you'll be thrilled about this one. It features Titanic director James Cameron and Titanic alum Bill Paxton narrating the voyage that brings turbulant weather conditions on the top and occasional technical issues down below. The star of his feature is without a doubt the wreckage. We get the most in-depth and amazing look on the out and inside of the Titanic. The special super-imposes some scenes from the legendary film to tell the tale of the wreckage as they go. The 3D technology does wonders for the experience..it really feels at times like you're there..and to see what so few will ever seen in person in stunning 3D is such a treat. One of the great things about this pack is that it comes with three formats of the special, so even if you don't yet have the 3D capabilities you can invest in this set for when you do and still enjoy this amazing special in 2D blu-ray or DVD. The kids are learning about the Titanic in school, so we found this to be a great way to really drive some of the realities about the legend home and they got such a kick out of seeing it. This one is a must have for all!
