Holy Flying Circus Blu-Ray Review

Synopsis: Holy Flying Circus reimagines the controversy surrounding Monty Python's 1979 film, Life of Brian, which was greeted with widespread outcry and accusations of blasphemy. Matters reached a head when Michael Palin and John Cleese agreed to take part in a BBC talk show about Life of Brian with a Church of England bishop and a staunchly Catholic broadcaster. The ensuing TV debate put the Pythons in their most absurd role yet: the voice of reason.

From Oscar®-nominated writer Tony Roche (In the Loop) and starring Darren Boyd (Little Dorrit), Charles Edwards (The Shell Seekers), Tom Fisher (The Illusionist), and Stephen Fry (Jeeves and Wooster), this fantastical docudrama is a Pythonesque peek behind the scenes of one of the most notorious-and beloved-films from the legendary troupe.

Review: Who doesn't love Monty Python?  The answer?  Anyone with taste loves Monty Python.  My wife and I saw Spamalot...twice.  We own every film..every episode of the Flying Circus..we watch Yellowbeard and even Gilliam's dark directoral works.  This, however, is something new for us.  This british import special from the BBC is a reenactment of a controversy that surrounded the making of the Life of Brian..something I was not privy to prior to watching the film.  I was pleasantly surprised to see how well done the depictions of the boys were and how quickly I was immersed and not noticing that they weren't themselves!  Not something I thought that I could do.  The film was funny, well written and very imformative to a big fan about an era that pre-dated me.  We recommend this for any Python fan..its a must see!

Interest Range: Comedy
