Planet 51 Blu-Ray Review

Planet  51 Blu-Ray Review

Synopsis: When Chuck the astronaut (Dwayne Johnson) lands on a distant planet filled with little green people, he is surprised to discover that we are not alone in the galaxy. But he gets the shock of his life when the residents of Planet 51 mistakenly believe that his presence is the start of an alien invasion of the human kind! Luckily, Lem (Justin Long) quickly realizes that Chuck is friendly and makes it his personal mission to help him return safely to his ship.

Review: Planet 51 is a fantastic jab at 1950s Americana.  The reviews when the film was in the theater were less than favorable.  I can't for the life of my figure out why!  The film stars The Rock (I'm sorry, he'll always be the Rock) in the lead voice role as an astronaut that gets marooned on an "alien" planet.  Except, he turns out to be the alien there!

Its rare to find a film that has good, clean jokes that are actually funny, but Planet 51 pulls it off.  Its got a fun storyline, great animation and the voice acting is really top notch.  The cast also includes Justin Long, who is a really underrated actor.  This is one of those films that should've been a huge hit.  It will proabably gain a lot more steam on blu-ray.

This is one of those cartoons that adults and parents will get a kick out of too, so its well worth a good watch.  The blu-ray transfer looks fantastic!  Its crisp and the colors are absolutely vibrant.  We highly recommend this one to kids and adults of all ages!
