Review: Batman: Brave and the Bold is the Cartoon Network follow-up to the 2004 cartoon 'The Batman'.  Ever since Batman: The Animated Series the Batman shows have become increasingly lighter-hearted.  The Batman was too light for some, although it looks rather dark compared to Brave, and this new one is really a campy homage to the golden age of comics.  This fact is odd to me, since crew from the show came out and mocked the adult fanbase for being nerdy "baby men" and stating the cartoon isn't for us...and yet the entire thing is a tribute to comic books that kids just don't care about or understand.  Hmmm.  Confused much on your target audience?   Thanks to a lot of that mockery the show hasn't gotten the reception you'd expect a Batman show to get.  The show has since announced its cancellation after season three.  I think this one will find legs on DVD down the road, and become a cult-goodie, much like Batman Beyond did.

This new DVD set is the second half of season one collected in a very nice and attractive case.  The 13 episode DVD is great, but it does include one downside...no extras!  This is still a great release for the money and is a necessity for any fan of the show or Batman completist.

The episodes on this DVD set include:
1) Mystery in Space!
2) Trials Of The Demon!
3) Night Of The Huntress!
4) Menace Of The Conqueror Caveman!
5) The Color Of Revenge!
6) Legends of the Dark Mite!
7) Hail The Tornado Tyrant!
8) Duel Of The Double Crossers!
9) The Last Bat On Earth!
10) When Omac Attacks!
11) The Fate Of Equinox!
12) Mayhem Of The Music Meister!
13) Inside the Outsiders!
Interest Range: Batman, Cartoons
