Stand By Me Blu-Ray Review

Synopsis: In a small woodsy Oregon town, a group of friends--sensitive Gordie (Wil Wheaton), tough guy Chris (River Phoenix), flamboyant Teddy (Corey Feldman), and scaredy-cat Vern (Jerry O'Connell)--are in search of a missing teenager's body. Wanting to be heroes in each other's and their hometown's eyes, they set out on an unforgettable two-day trek that turns into an odyssey of self-discovery. They sneak smokes, tell tall tales, cuss 'cause it's cool and band together when the going gets tough. When they encounter the town's knife-wielding hoods who are also after the body, the boys discover a strength they never knew they had. Stand By Me is a rare and special film about friendship and the indelible experiences of growing up. Filled with humor and suspense, Stand By Me is based on the novella 'The Body' by Stephen King.

Review: Stand By Me is one of those iconic films that has been shown over and over and over again on television.  In fact, I first saw it on television on a Sunday afternoon, rather than the theater.  It was possibly one of my first losses of innocense as a child.  Stephen King would be responsible for a few of those for me, lol.   There are a lot of films out there about youth and the tween to teen time period and the trouble to be found with your friends during the process of you all growing up, but none quite so full of substance as this one.  It shows that Stephen King really does have legit writing talent.  Too bad he wastes it.

You've probably seen this film already, unless you live under a rock, so I'll get to the important part..the blu-ray high-definition transfer.   How does it look?  Does it hold up?!  The answer in a word..yep.  Is it perfect and absolutely crisp?  NO, its an older film so its a little soft and we get a little grain here or there, but overall its a wonderful version!

Interest Range: Drama
