Due Date Blu-Ray + DVD Combo Review

Synopsis: From The Hangover director Todd Phillips, Due Date throws two unlikely companions together on a road trip that turns out to be as life-changing as it is outrageous. Expectant first-time father Peter Highman (Robert Downey Jr.) looks forward to his new child’s due date five days away. As Peter hurries to catch a flight home from Atlanta to be at his wife’s side for the birth, his best intentions go completely awry when an encounter with aspiring actor Ethan Tremblay (Zach Galifianakis) forces Peter to hitch a ride with Ethan on a cross-country trip that will ultimately destroy several cars, many friendships and Peter’s last nerve.

Review: We love comedy.  It seems as though there has been a recent rash of studio deceit with advertising and many so-called "comedies" we see end up being not so much on the funny.  Due Date was actually under advertised.  This movie is frickin' hilarious.

Robert Downey Jr., fresh off Iron Man 2, and Zach Galifianakis, fresh off of the comedic masterpiece, The Hangover, and heading towards the Hangover 2, mesh together to form one of the coolest buddy flicks we've seen in ages.  The film plays Downey as a self-involved straight man, while Zach Galifianakis is a delusional and obnoxious maniac.  Not exactly a stretch for either actor, but it works.  They each do what they do best and they find themselves in situation after situation that just keeps us laughing.

The ending if this film is our only complaint.  It would've been nice to see it end in a somewhat less conventional "American" way, but it was still a great ride!   The film is out on blu-ray and DVD combo, which is the best possible option, in our opinion.  It looks great..sounds great and should keep the laughs coming if you like these actors.  Also, watch for a great stand-out cameo from Danny McBride as the crippled ass-kicker!  Classic!

Interest Range: Comedy
