Black Death Blu-Ray Review

Synopsis: The year is 1348. Europe has fallen under the shadow of the Black Death. As the plague decimates all in its path, fear and superstition are rife. There are rumors of a village hidden in marshland that the plague cannot reach. There is talk of a necromancer who leads the village and is able to bring the dead back to life. Ulric (Sean Bean), a fearsome knight, is charged by the church to investigate these rumors. Joined by a young monk and a small consort of soldiers, the journey ahead will lead them into the heart of darkness where faith is challenged and put to the ultimate test.

Review: The Black Death, of course, refers to the plague in Europe back in the 14th century.  This gritty film stars Lord of the Rings alum Sean Bean as a monk who is losing his faith over the travesty that he is seeing with the plague.  He sets off on a journey and finds a town that is free of disease and amidst a film of violence and death he has to make a spiritual choice and decide what his opinion of "God" really is.

This film is highly enjoyable.  The production quality and script far exceeded my expectations.  The action is great..we highly recommend this one.

The special features include: Deleted Scenes, Bringing Black Death to Life, Interviews with Cast and Crew, Behind the Scenes Footage, HDNet: A Look at Black Death and a Theatrical Trailer

Interest Range: Drama, Action
