Transformers: The Complete Series DVD Review

Synopsis: All Four Seasons In One Box Set: ’Til All Are One!  Four million years after crash-landing on an unfamiliar planet, sentient robots with the ability to disguise themselves as common vehicles awaken on present-day Earth. Engaged in a crucial race to find a new energy source for their home planet of Cybertron, Optimus Prime and the heroic Autobots must defend the innocent people of Earth against their archnemeses: Megatron and the power-hungry Decepticons!

Review: The Transformers was one of the seminole cartoons of the 1980s.  Its been kept alive through spin-off cartoons like Beast Wars (which we're reviewing here shortly) and Armada, amongst others, and a set of live-action films.  This great new set from Shout! Factory includes the entire Generation One animated series from the 1980s!  We're talking 15 discs with 98 episodes in all.

This is one of the few shows, along with GI Joe, that really holds-up well still and is actively watchable, not just collectible.  The video transfer is absolutely amazing and there are tons of special features (see below).  This basically collects all of the volumes already released by Shout with a nice case.  This release features slim case DVDs, so it does have packaging differences.  You can purchase the case seperately on Shout Factory's website, as well.

The special features on this deluxe boxed set include: Retrospective featurettes, From the files of Teletraan-2, PSAs, Toy commercials and Art galleries.

This is a phenominal release at a great price.  We cannot recommend it enough!

Interest Range: Transformers, Vintage Animation
