Frankenstein Jr. and the Impossibles DVD Review

FRANKENSTEIN JR. & THE IMPOSSIBLES now on DVD at the Warner Archive: http://bit.ly/HBF_FrankJr

Synopsis: Frankenstein Jr. and the Impossibles is one half-hour packed with the adventures of two of the most unusual animation creations of the legendary Hanna-Barbera studio. Buzz Conroy is a heroic boy-genius who builds the powerful robot Frankenstein Jr. When the Ghastly Genie, the Junk Man and other evildoers get up to their old tricks, “Frankie” and his young creator crank into action. The crime fighting coalition continues with the Impossibles, a group of superheroes disguised as a beatnik rock group. At the direction of “Big D,” Multi Man, Coil Man and Fluid Man make hot-rockin’ musical justice thwarting thieves and corralling crooks with their transformative powers. All-family classic cartoon fun isn’t just possible – it’s guaranteed with this 2-Disc, 18-Episode Collection.

Review: This cartoon is another Hanna-Barbera classic show from way back in the late 1960s, from 66-68 to be specific.  This DVD release from the Warner Archive print-on-demand online selection features the entire two season series, which consists of 18 episodes in all.  This cool show was aired during an important transition period for animation on television, where there was a lot of complaining about the level of violence that was beginning to show-up in the hero-based and action-themed shows.  This is, of course, silly to us nowadays, since the shows are clearly very silly, but at the time it was unheard of and standards were very closely monitored.  The show was eventually cancelled, although it was re-aired in the 1970s during the Space Ghost show.

This great DVD includes a nice transfer of this long-lost show.  Its so fantastic for animation fans and childhood fans of the show to finally be able to get ahold of this gem in animation history.  We definately recommend this one!
