I Saw The Devil Blu-Ray Review

Synopsis: I Saw the Devil is a shockingly violent and stunningly accomplished tale of murder and revenge. The embodiment of pure evil, Kyung-chul is a dangerous psychopath who kills for pleasure. On a freezing, snowy night, his latest victim is the beautiful Juyeon, daughter of a retired police chief and pregnant fiancée of elite special agent Soo-hyun. Obsessed with revenge, Soo-hyun is determined to track down the murderer, even if doing so means becoming a monster himself. And when he finds Kyung-chul, turning him in to the authorities is the last thing on his mind, as the lines between good and evil fall away in this diabolically twisted game of cat and mouse.

Review: We've been seeing more and more imports of Korean cinema this year.  Their filmmaking is nice, because its so very extreme and bit less predictable than the American way of doing things.  Its certainly a nice change-up.  This film, I saw the Devil, is one of the most intense revenge flicks we've seen .....ever.

I have to warn you straight off that the torture scenes here are pretty intense.  Mind you, this isn't some horror film, this is straight up revenge!  This loon cuts Soo-hyun's pregnant fiancee's head off for fun and that signs his own death warrant.  Soo-hyun himself becomes a monster, tracking the killer across the country and constantly dropping in to torture him in very intense ways.  Is it justified or just madness?  You be the judge.  Personally, I dig it.

Interest Range: Thriller
