Robocop Trilogy Blu-Ray Review

Robocop Trilogy Blu-Ray Review

Synopsis: RoboCop 1 - From the director of Total Recall comes a high-adrenaline,
“sleek” (Time) sci-fi thriller about a policeman who’s half man,
half machine. When a good cop (Peter Weller) is
murdered by criminals, innovative scientists piece him back
together as an unstoppable crime-fighting cyborg called
RoboCop. Tormented by the memory of his death, he is out for justice – and revenge.

RoboCop 2 - Robocop (Peter Weller) returns to battle his toughest
opponent yet: his replacement! But not only is the
new cyborg’s weaponry more sophisticated than
Robocop’s, it contains the brain of a madman! It will
take everything Robocop has to save Detroit -- and
himself -- from total destruction.

RoboCop 3 - It’s Megacop vs. Megacorp in this edge-of-your-seat
sci-fi action film. When a ruthless corporation that has
a stranglehold on Motor City begins kicking families
out of their homes for a new real estate project,
Robocop (Robert Burke) and a band of renegades
fight to save them in an all-out battle for Detroit.

Review: The Robocop Trilogy is one of those action franchises from the 1980s that is absolutely legendary.  This is a great year for classic franchises on blu-ray..everything from Aliens to Back to the Future!  Robocop tops the lists in the way of violence and action...and also in mixed feelings from the fans.  Robocop was a three film franchise and a successful toyline that really resonated with kids.

This release of all three Robocop films on blu-ray comes with it's share of controversy.  There is talk about the lack of extras that the DVD release of the trilogy had and the conversion quality.  We found that the films weren't perfect, but they were good and definately fun to watch.  I enjoyed seeing the movies again after so many years.   Every once in awhile I still pull out "I'd buy THAT for a dollar!" in my personal life and no one has any idea what I'm talking about.

Its rather ironic that kids were into Robocop.  Its ultra-violent and dark.  The films hold up well, although the third one is a bit off.  This is a great blu-ray set and definately one I will keep in our library!

Interest Range: Robocop, 80s Action Films
