Review: Thundarr the Barbarian is a shining example of classic animation!  Its a great freeze-frame in time for what used to be entertainment for kids.    The show, produced by Ruby-Spears, ran in the early 1980s, which was during the Filmation Blackstar days, but prior to Masters of the Universe.

The show's character design was done by the legendary Alex Toth, who was also responsible for the design on the Super Friends television show.  The series was very Conan-esque with a lot of comic book influences.  Does it hold up well?  Honestly, no, but its one of those shows that you have affection for, because you grew up on it!  This is the complete series for the first time on DVD and this is a fantastic opportunity to finally own it!

Interest Range: Classic Animation
