Dallas: The Movie Collection DVD Review

Synopsis: Big D gets even bigger with three movies and a cast reunion! From 1978 to 1991, the TV series Dallas grew legions of fans with compulsively watchable tales of greed, sexy and schemes – most masterminded by smilin’ J.R. Ewing (Larry Hagman), the double-dealing oilman folks love to hate. Dallas was so popular is also spawned the four exciting pieces in this special collection, starting with a prequel (The Early Years) that sets the stage for the drama to come. The other three, starring Hagman and more beloved cast members, include reunion movies (J. R. Returns, War of the Ewings) that plunge a wheeling-dealing J.R. into plots to take over Ewing Oil and a fascinating retrospective (The Return to Southfork) brimming with clips, outtakes, and reminiscences from your favorite Dallas stars.

Review: This is a great DVD set to round out the Warner Bros. releases of the vintage Dallas TV show.  This collection includes the prequel film, which isn't entirely on-key with the continuity of the show, but is a lot of fun.  The two reunion movies come next.  The J.R. Returns TV reunion movie is the better of the two.  The last feature is a retrospective of the legendary show.  I never thought they'd put out a release like this, but its perfect for any Dallas completist.

The special features on this DVD set include: Dallas Reunion: Return to Southfork:13 years after the series concluded its orginal run, Larry Hagman hosts a behind-the-scenes look at the most exciting moments in Dallas history.
