American Horror Story: The Complete First Season Blu-Ray Review

Review: We have gotten a lot of amazing, and rather dark, drama from cable TV in the past few years. Everything from the Walking Dead and Mad Men to Breaking Bad and Dexter. American Horror Story is an offering from the creators of Glee in an attempt to contribute to this new era of fantastic cable drama. The show, while fantastically stylized and amply twisted, misses the mark in our opinion on a lot of points. The film highly centers around themes of dead babies and children, which is not something we enjoy seeing. The psychosexual aspects of the show are fantastic and a lot of the supernatural aspects are great too, but the show really falls off the shelf when it comes to children. There are some realms that good quality drama doesn't need to explore and that is one of them. If it weren't for that aspect, this would be a great show. This blu-ray collects the full first season of the series.
