Damsels in Distress Blu-Ray Review
Synopsis: Damsels in Distress is a comedy that follows a trio of beautiful girls who set out to revolutionize life at a grungy East Coast university - the dynamic leader Violet Wister (Greta Gerwig), principled Rose (Megalyn Echikunwoke) and sexy Heather (Carrie MacLemore). They welcome transfer student Lily (Analeigh Tipton) into their group which seeks to help severely depressed students with a program of good scent and musical dance numbers. The girls become romantically entangled with a series of men - including slick Charlie (Adam Brody), dreamboat Xavier (Hugo Becker) and the mad frat pack of Frank (Ryan Metcalf) and Thor (Billy Magnussen) - who threaten the girls' friendship and sanity.
Review: We're often looking for something different here at the Legion. We see a LOT of film and when you watch a lot of movies you quickly realize that there are templates, and when a film doesn't bother to follow mainstream templates, yet still manages to be funny, charming and sweet, then you take notice. Damsels is that film. This film about a group of dingy girls is a fantastic and uplifting film that leaves the viewer smiling.
