Synopsis: From the creators of The Princess and the Frog and The Little Mermaid comes the story of a clever little hero on a great big adventure. After a four-year period of story development, animation took just over one year to complete. This remarkably short production span was possible due to new efficiencies in the production process (such as video tests and computer-assisted layouts and graphics), and an increased emphasis on story development prior to the start of production.
Review: Disney is synonymous with the best in animation and children's entertainment. The Great Mouse Detective was Disney's take on the legend of Sherlock Holmes. The animation in this mid-80s feature was fantastic, but I feel that this film was underrated in it's time. The surge in Disney popularity came shortly thereafter with the Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin. This film is often forgotten in the mix, and it truly should not be. This is the first time that you can own this rare gem on high-definition blu-ray. This is a wonderful film to share with your kids and to add to your film library.
